U.S. airlines slashing fares
Many U.S. Airlines are slashing prices on some flights, hoping to lure travelers this holiday season and into the New Year. JetBlue Airways' four-day online fare sale as low as $109 each-way from the Bay Area to New York you've got until Thursday to book it at http://www.jetblue.com/. For $30 more on the same route, fly Virgin America, which trumpeted its holiday fare sale today. And if you favor Southwest Airlines? Every Tuesday the airline announces a fare sale on the click-and-save page of its Web page. Today's site told of fares from $49 to $109 on select routes around the country. With sagging numbers Southwest and at all the other airline struggling in a down cycle, an effort is under way to entice a traveler who might otherwise not travel. The carriers hope to trigger impulse buying. The Virgin America sale requires travelers to buy tickets on its Web site, http://www.virginamerica.com/, by Dec. 11 and commence traveling on or after Jan. 6. All travel must be complete by March 1. The deals include $59 fares one-way between San Francisco and three destinations - Las Vegas, San Diego and Seattle. In addition to the $109 transcontinental fares at JetBlue, the carrier has one-way fares as low as $79 between Austin and Long Beach or $89 to San Francisco. The JetBlue tickets must be purchased by 11:59 p.m. Mountain Daylight Time Thursday and the travel must take place between Jan. 7 and Feb. 11.

Like many Americans, Christmas is my favorite time of the year. Having worked in Germany "Christkindl" markets bring back magical memories to me and my chlldren of beautiful singing, fairytale medieval city settings, stunning decorations, warm, cozy cafes and the wonderful smells of sausage, sweets and Gluhwein. Enjoy tradition. Enjoy this most wonderful time of the year.

Introduces New On-Line Inter-Active Map
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 17 - EuropebyAir.com makes getting to and getting around Europe easier and cheaper by adding this unique (click on the link to right) 'Fly-to-Europe' interactive flight map to its website.
Bill Wolf, President of EuropebyAir, announced that, "Our expansion continues as we move into our second decade by adding a dynamic trans-Atlantic map that visually displays all direct flight possibilities from U.S. cities to European cities.
"Our new map makes itinerary planning even easier for our loyal community of savvy travelers who have been using our dynamic 'FlightPass' map to fly within Europe and beyond. The interactive, highly acclaimed 'FlightPass' airline network map introduced ten years ago is still displayed on our website. More importantly, the $99 one-way fares (not including taxes) for flights within Europe are still available, as is our no-charge-for-reservation-changes feature that applies for all Flight Pass routes (subject to availability). The combination of fares, features and maps that display direct and connecting flight possibilities makes itinerary planning easier and cheaper than traditional websites."
Wolf also said, "People who love maps will find our maps a 'cool tool' and fun to navigate. All travelers should continue to visit our website as we will soon add interactive maps that will display U.S. and European ports available for passenger ship trans-Atlantic crossings. Also on the drawing board are maps of cities in Europe that have multiple airports. These will show rail, coach and subway options for getting from airport to airport or from the airports to city centers."
EuropebyAir's specialized products are available for sale in the U.S. and selected other countries. Aegean Airlines continues controlled growth strategy
Mr. Dimitris Gerogiannis, Managing Director, commented: AEGEAN continued to expand its business during Q1, amid challenging conditions for the airline sector created by the rise of oil prices to unprecedented levels. Customers response to the gradual introduction of our new aircraft was positive and we have managed to grow our passenger numbers by 10% on the back of international network expansion. We are encouraged by the continuing positive maturing of international destinations initiated within the last two years as well as from the strengthening of our competitive position in the majority of our international routes. Mr. Bill Wolf, President of EuropeByAir said today he is proud to have Aegean Airlines as part of our FlightPass program.
Aegean Airlines is a full service airline, having a leading domestic position in Greece and a growing presence in international scheduled routes between Greece and destinations in Europe and neighboring countries. The company offers in-flight catering and reserved seating. For more information and reservations you can go to our web site http://www.europebyair.com/ One of the most popular new routes is between London Stansted Airport and Athens. The London Stansted Airport can be easily reached via the Stansted Express rail from Liverpool Street station in central London or by coach to other airports and mainland cities.

ETC the European Travel Commission noted, that because demand for air travel to Europe by Americans remains strong, lower fares are not likely to follow the increased options. If you're looking for bargains, remember that airfare is cheapest October through April, so book as early as possible with flexible travel dates.
One Web site recommended by the ETC for comparing airfare is Europe by Air, http://www.europebyair.com/, which has a getaway map that shows the lowest fares from major European airports including their $99 TravelPass.

OUR EX PR GUY GO's FOR THE GOLD
Jeff Ruffolo competed to do Olympic PR for China and won. "How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Communists" could be the title of Jeff Ruffolo's autobiography. Perhaps the book could explain how it was that a Republican Mormon from Orange County became a public relations advisor on (some might say apologist for) the Chinese Communist Party's handling of the Beijing Olympics.
Today Ruffolo has only the highest praise for the Chinese, but then again, he is paid to say nice things. Ruffolo is the only foreigner handling media at the headquarters of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games and doing a great job.
